The Mercedes-Benz Splitview display allows viewers to see different material on the same in-dash LCD. That means that while the driver is checking navigation, the front-seat passenger can watch a movie.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class and CL-Class cars are the first to offer the Splitview option. The Splitview technology is an outgrowth of Sharp’s Dual View technology. Since the driver and the passenger can’t see the same image at the same time, the Splitview system will probably be legal in states that ban front-seat DVD players that are visible to the driver when the car is on the move.
