Designer Hyoungsoo Kim is attempting to make the three-seat roadster a reality with his Mercedes-Benz SILK design. SILK is an all-electric car designed to seat three people in safety and in style.
SILK has a interior design that features two passenger chairs squeezed onto either side of the driver's seat. The result is a surprisingly roomy coupe that looks like it would be a lot more comfortable to ride in than many of the two-seater roadsters out today. In addition to seating three, the Mercedes-Benz SILK has also been designed to keep pedestrians safe. The hood ornament is actually a speaker that works in conjunction with four sensors on the front of the car. This system works to both detect and warn pedestrians when they get too close to the car.
