McDonald's recently began testing out a self-serve McCafe coffee kiosk in one of its Chicago locations. While McDonald's has experimented with self-serve ordering stations in the past, this new system is specifically designed for the chain's McCafe products.
The new McCafe coffee kiosk is located away from the main counter in order to help consumers skip lengthy lines. The machine itself features a touchpad for ordering and subsequently processing payment information. Customers can use the touchpad to order lattes, mochas and cappuccinos, all of which can be customized based on flavor choice, type of milk and amount of espresso. The drink will then be dispensed directly from the machine, allowing customers to grab their order and go.
Similar to the McDonald's Create Your Taste customized ordering system available at select locations, the new kiosk demonstrates how the chain is creating a more personalized experience for customers.
