The Mazda MX-0 Weighs in at Under 1000 LBS. and Seats Four

Mazda is shedding the pounds with its latest concept car, the aptly named Mazda MX-0. The Mazda MX-0 was an entrant into last year's LA Design Challenge, and was modeled after the popular Mazda MX-5. The minimalistic automobile may have shed some of the bulk of its predecessor, but none of the bite.

The Mazda MX-0 weighs in at 999 pounds and can seat up to four people. Despite being designed after the MX-5, the MX-0 shares almost no similarities with its two-door coupe cousin, aside from badass attitude of course. The MX-0 has an extremely low profile and is made with simple multifunctional parts, with the whole package being powered by an eco-friendly electric engine. Essentially, the literally lighter body of the Mazda MX-0 makes it a theoretically faster, more aerodynamic automobile.
