Entitled "Why isn’t that exciting?", this conceptual Matt Hickmott collection preview pays tribute to the styling and suburban imagery of 90s cult classic Edward Scissorhands.
The legendary Tim Burton film that starred Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder is used as inspiration for the designers candy-colored palette of matching pastel pink and blue tones. In addition to being drawn to the film's pastel color inspiration, Matt Hickmott referenced the film's hair-cutting smock silhouettes when creating the key pieces of this unisex clothing line.
The talented designer is currently enrolled in the Westpac Young Designer NZ competition with a possible prize of $5000 NZD and a presentation at New Zealand Fashion Week. However his future in the competition pans out, the daring rookie designer is sure to turn heads with his unconventional line of sculpturally layered looks.
