Zurich-based publishing house, known for its eccentric and original zines and art books, now brings ‘Masterpiece Coloring Book’ to the art world.
Japanese artists Ken Kagami and Masano Hirayama drew their versions of classic paintings from famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Pablo Picasso.
The twist is the childlike precision. The art appears to be drawn by children with simple stick figures but there is a method. Paradoxically, the two artists draw like children with intelligent calculated precision at the same time.
The pieces are barely recognizable but maintain the true essence of the original paintings. The artists bring classic paintings back to the basics.
The book costs $12 and an exhibition for the book signing and release event is happening on April 8th in Tokyo.
