Cabin-Like Mansions

The Martis Camp House by Swaback Partners is Warm and Airy

A warm and wooden oasis in the middle of a forest, the Martis Camp House is like a mansion version of a humble cabin. The sprawling estate may have an overall modern appeal but the predominant use of wood really gives it a homey feel that embraces the tradition of cottages beautifully. Yet for seasoned cottagers, it is more of a luxury resort that defeats the purpose of such an experience.

Designed by Swaback Partners, the Martis Camp House is located near North Lake Tahoe, California. Forgoing the traditional regional architecture that is mostly dark and heavy it celebrates "the light and airy feeling of snow and the effects that it can bring to the interiors," as written by the designers.
