Klimas achieves the exploding effect by dropping the figures from a few feet high and snapping a photo right as they hit the ground. This gives the images a massive amount of energy -- almost as if the martial artists have so much power that they can’t even control it. As the plastic flies and the heads pop off of the figures, one can feel the explosive boom that is encompassed in the photos.
