Finland-based designer Marco Casagrande's 'Oystermen' is a distinct environmental piece of art that rekindles images of the Iron Giant. The six-meter tall nondescript metallic figures are named Oystermen because of the tidal shore of Kinmen Island in Taiwan can reduce the height of the four figures to around three meters, allowing oysters to latch onto the poles at high tide.
The four figures, sand-blasted and made of stainless steel, appear to be walking on stilts where the oysters can attach themselves to. The four figures also adorn Asian conical hats that double up as solar panels, which power the lights places on the underside to illuminate the water at night. From afar, the Oystermen appear to be floating on the water and add a touch surrealism to the tranquil and serene waterscape.
