Stylish Sustainably Made Yoga Mats

Maiya's Mats Blend South Asian and Californian Influences

Maiya, a Los Angeles-based brand that champions designs from Mumbai, recently launched three unique yoga mats, all of which aim to combine the traditional roots of the practice with a light Californian edge.

Sustainably produced in Europe using OEKO-TEX materials, the latex-free mats are made in small batches to ensure each maintains a high level of quality. At 5mm thick and with ultra-dense cushioning, the mat is incredibly comfortable to use and protects sensitive joints during practice. The mats also boast a closed-cell surface, which prevents sweat and moisture from seeping in and breeding bacteria. This also makes the mat ideal for hot yoga or intensive sessions. With their textured surfaces, the mats provide plenty of grip while enabling users to flow through different positions with ease.

Maiya's debut collection is comprised of three unique styles, all of which utilize well known symbols. The Padma boasts colorful lotus designs, whereas the Mayura takes inspiration from enhancing peacock feathers. The Hamsa features the evil eye symbol, which is said to ward off evil and bring good luck.

All of the mats are available for purchase from LiveMaiya.com, where they retail for $148 each.
