The Maison Val D'Entremont Gives a Sweeping View of its Surroundings

The Maison Val D'Entremont looks like it was originally a traditional wooden home that was split in half so that a glass belly could be inserted in. Yet instead of creating a tug-of-war scenario in which classic and contemporary aesthetics oppose each other, the result is quite harmonious. In fact, the glass gives the rest of its wooden exterior a modern update. Of course, it was relatively modern to begin with.

Designed by Savioz Fabrizzi Architects, the Maison Val D'Entremont is located on a slope in Valais, Switzerland. Overall, it takes on a simple and iconic shape that complements its natural surroundings beautifully while the floor-to-ceiling wraparound windows on the second level give a sweeping view of the Alps, the countryside and the village below.
