Founder of DBL Designs, jewelry designer Krista Curtis is based in Saskatchewan and has a line of lucky penny jewelry inspired by the now-defunct Canadian penny.
She uses pennies in most of her jewelry designs, which she says are inspired by bohemian styles. He bracelets are made of different semi-previous stones -- including turquoise, jasper, amazonite, rhodonite and sunstone. Many of the circular beads have a multicolored surface and they are each uniquely distinct. What furthers this distinction is the fact that each individual bracelet contains a polished and somewhat shrunken "Lucky Penny."
Incorporating the unused penny into her designs was an excellent idea, as they are seen as more of a historical object than a now-obsolete form of money. These designs mix eclectic bracelets with a classic Canadian artifact to form beautiful statement jewelry pieces.
