Lost Pet Amber Alerts

Emergency Dog and Cat Recovery Assistance Helps Find Lost Pets

In September, Trend Hunter spotted The Spotlight GPS Pet Locator but when Jessica Simpson recently lost her dog, she used a lost pet Amber Alert type of service in an attempt to find her beloved pet.

Online lost pet ‘Amber Alert’ services use different approaches to sounding the alarm:

AmberPetAlert is a fee-for-service organization that sends physical posters via overnight signature required FedEx Express to Veterinarians and others located within a 50-200 mile radius of where a lost pet went missing. Service cost is $50-$75 per incident.

Amber Alert for Pets™ is an Internet-based association of pet owner members pledged to look for each other’s lost pets. Members in the lost pet’s area respond to notifications by looking for it. Cost to register varies from about $25 per year to $65 for 5 years. See a video about this start-up on YouTube.

FindToto, a service that Jessica Simpson used recently, is a robo-call lost pet Amber Alert service that uses a pet’s home address to generate calls throughout a neighborhood in order to locate lost pets. The pay-for-call service ranges fro $70-$875 and will notify between 500 and 10,000 area households.
