The Loop de Loop collection could be mistaken for a three-dimensional signature that happens to double as a series of furniture. Just like an identifying scrawl, at least for many, it coils and curves in an abstract manner. Nevertheless, it is not so abstract that a person can't determine the seat and backrest of the pieces that make up the Loop de Loop collection.
Designed by William Pedersen, a founding design partner of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the Loop de Loop collection was created almost on a whim after he discovered a rusted steel bar in a field. Pedersen writes, "In a way I was looking for almost a Platonic idealization of 'chairness.' If successful, the conceptual idea could produce many types of chairs not just one. Loop de Loop represents this 'gesture in space.'"
