Tarsus Launches 'Look at the Lids' Campaign for Eye Health

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals has launched a disease education campaign to increase awareness of Demodex blepharitis, a common lid margin disease that affects around 25 million eye care patients in the US. The campaign, called Look at the Lids, aims to encourage eye care professionals to screen for the disease in all their patients to diagnose it sooner.

It includes educational tools and resources for eye care professionals, a website, social media channels, webinars, and interactive activities at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Optometry's annual meetings. Demodex blepharitis is caused by an infestation of Demodex mites and is characterized by inflammation, redness, and ocular irritation.

"It is remarkable how many patients I discover who have Demodex just by examining their lashes when they look down during a regular eye exam," said Selina McGee, OD, FAAO, CEO of BeSpoke Vision in Oklahoma. "This disease is often hiding in plain sight, and without properly screening for it, many patients go undiagnosed. Demodex can cause damage and discomfort when left untreated, and I’m excited to be a part of a campaign designed to increase the identification and diagnosis of this very common disease."
