Tumblr users can now live stream on the platform thanks to a partnership with Livebox. US-based Tumblr users can now live stream using iOS or Android systems, with expansions to other countries and regions scheduled to come in the near future. Tumblr Live, the newest functionality, is advertised as a Livebox-powered native Tumblr streaming service. Tumblr readers can use virtual "Diamonds" to support their favorite creators, and Livebox also permits human and automated broadcast monitoring so streamers can designate dependable viewers to serve as moderators.
"We're curious to see how Tumblr's overflowing creativity will blossom now that users have access to native live streaming. Our creators are multi-modal and this is a new color in their palette," said Automattic founder and CEO Matt Mullenweg.
