Apple announced a new feature called 'Live Speech' coming to its iOS platform. The feature will roll out this year alongside a number of other changes, including cognitive accessibility features and visibility assistance features. The Live Speech feature will be able to record and replicate a user's voice. Once a user has recorded roughly 15 minutes of voice, the Live Speech feature will be able to produce any phrase said by the user with relative accuracy.
This feature is not designed to be a replacement for voice calls for everybody, but is rather intended to assist those who have lost their ability to speak over time due to any number of conditions. To use this feature, users must simply activate it during a call by pressing the button, then type any desired phrase. Then, on the other end, the phrase will be spoken believably in the writer's voice.
