When news that 6.5 million passwords from the popular social media site LinkedIn were breached last week, people started to panic about their password security, which allowed Rapid7 to create the 'LinkedIn Passwords Lifted' Graph. Accessing the information about what was hacked, it determined that people were not being safety-conscious enough when creating their online passwords. The top three passwords, for example, were "link," "1234," and "work." Not the most secure, unpredictable options.
The infographic takes it a step further than simply identifying what passwords are not so great and actively informs users of what to avoid when creating your own passwords. Among the offlimits list includes cursewords, words related to the site, and shorter pass phrases. Furthermore, be sure to keep in mind that your security question has to be as security-conscious as your password itself.
