The LEGO Braille Bricks have been created by the toy manufacturer as a solution to help get kids excited about learning the language.
The toys keep the basic aesthetic of the tiny plastic blocks in mind and are designed to fit snuggly onto traditional LEGO play boards. The top section of each brick is embedded with tactile nodes to let children learn the orientation of each letter as they play.
The building blocks are presently being tested in English, Danish, Norwegian and Portuguese with Spanish, French and German positioned for testing starting in Q3 of 2019. The kits are expected to launch in 2020 to select institutions free of charge to encourage more children to learn the language for enhanced inclusivity.
