Being that the healthcare industry is involved more than ever in complex procedures that can take many hours to perform, the Archelis is a system designed to offer leg support for surgeons. Created in collaboration between Hiroaki Nishimura Design, the Chiba University Center for Frontier Medical Engineering and Japan Polymer Technology, the Archelis is essential a wearable chair when in use.
When worn on the legs, the Archelis will provide ample support for the wearer to stand for hours on end without fatigue. The leg support device works by alleviating the pressure associated with standing for such long periods to provide a better overall experience for the surgeon. Although intended for the healthcare industry, the Archelis system could offer great capabilities for others in a variety of different industries.
