American design studios Land Morphology and Olson Kundig Architects join forces on the updated new Leach Botanical Garden in Portland. It features an event pavilion and an aerial tree walk -- the space is located in southeast Portland and takes over 16 acres of land. The project sections out into different phases to transform the park in order to elevate the visitor experience without disrupting the natural history of the site.
Land Morphology notes that "Organised along cultural and ecological transects, the master plan preserves the founders' legacy by carrying forward their commitment to environmental stewardship through the new and expressive form." The new pavilion, tree walk, and botanical collection are part of the first step.
