Sticky and Sweet Fashion

Madonna's Latest Tour Couture

At the age of 50, Madonna kicked off her Sticky & Sweet world tour in Wales. The fashions Madonna wears during her shows are always a significant element of the 'Madonna experience'.

Arianne Phillips who has been with Madonna as her costume designer for years has lined up an impressive assortment of couture fashion designers to help create Madonna's looks for the Stick & Sweet tour. Phillips says the inspiration for the tour is, ""Joan of Arc meets sexy robot."

During the show, Madonna's signature dominatrix-look will be highlighted by thigh-high boots by Stella McCartney. A Cloak & Dagger scene showcases a black cloak designed by Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci will provide a strong and dark stage presence. For a gypsy culture section of the concert Tisci also designed this hippy inspired look detailed by brightly coloured bead and trim. Madonna's New York in the 80's inspired costume includes custom sneakers decorated with art by the late Keith Haring. The final part of the show is a "Japanese-influenced futuristic rave" theme. Elle magazine says, "shoes by Miu Miu, and Moschino sunglasses-plus outfits and accessories by Roberto Cavalli, Jeremy Scott, and Yves Saint Laurent-are all woven into the mix."

The sketches were all courtesy of Arianne Phillips and Givenchy.
