Researches Created a Laser-Powered Method of Crafting Cold-Brew Coffee

A team of German researchers based at the Universitat Duisberg Essen, created a laser-extracted cold brew system that is capable of producing cold-brew coffee at high speeds while simultaneously increasing the quality of the coffee. According to the team, the laser extraction system is capable of producing cold-brew coffee at a rate of nearly 300 times quicker than traditional brewing methods. On top of this, the taste of the resulting product is described as richer and more flavorful than traditional cold brews.

Traditional cold-brew coffee systems take approximately 24 hours to extract the coffee from the beans in cold water fully, while the laser-extraction system takes a matter of minutes. With public taste testing, testers found that the coffee was nearly indistinguishable from slow, traditional cold brews. Additionally, analysis shows that no additional chemicals, harmful or otherwise, are found in the laser-extracted cold brew.
