CEI Architecture designed a lake view home overlooking the Skaha Lake in Kaleden, British Columbia. The house sits comfortably on the lake's west bank, offering spectacular views of the nearby Kaleden village and water.
The architects designed the single-family residence with the majority of the living space on the upper level. The decision was made to accommodate for the sloping site and reduce the complex foundation construction. The result is that the second floor cantilevers over the gorge underneath. Like the site, the building's roof features a sloping silhouette, which is intended to be a shading mechanism. The roof protects the living area, as well as the service block, from extreme sun exposure.
The home's modern form is constructed from glue laminated beams and wood decking.
