The KUKI-BIN is an underground garbage can that lets you keep your garbage out of sight while easily disposing of it. Designers Tsewang Gensapa and Mun Kim created the odd trash bin in order to transform how we deal with trash. By placing the receptacle underground, Gensapa and Kim are allowing users to comfortably throw away their trash while avoiding overflow and litter.
Since the KUKI-BIN is essentially a hole in the ground, there are some safety concerns. The designers solved this by adding several safeguards. A large red plastic bird stands in the middle of the trash can to indicate where it is. In addition, a green ring of light illuminates the rim of the trash bin when it's dark.
