For designers, everyday objects are opportunities to delight people in unexpected ways. Such is certainly true with the creation of the adorable Koo Koo Letterbox that takes an engaging abstract form with a lovely reference to a class of nature's beautiful creatures.
Bill Playso worked with Justin Hutchinson to produce a practical and decorative mailbox that would stand on a post next to the footpath, charming both homeowners and passers-by. The pair developed a triangular prism as the primary compartment, with a little pitched extensions that serves as a covered slot and completes a geometric silhouette similar to that of a bird. This part of the Koo Koo Letterbox keeps envelopes and small parcels sheltered; meanwhile, an open wing-like metal addition makes for an ideal magazine and newspaper holder.
