Industrial designer Keren Golan has created a knife designed to extract aloe vera gel. The product is called 'geLOE' and was developed after the designer discovered there are very few tools available to extract aloe vera gel.
The designer began by comprehensively researching all things aloe vera. She researched which domestic tools were being used for aloe extraction and discovered that it was mostly improvised kitchenware - most commonly a machete knife. After much analysis on the process of aloe vera gel extraction, and after visiting aloe farms and factories, the designer came up with a perfectly shaped knife.
The gel extraction process involves three main actions - removing the edges, penetrating the 'flash,' and detaching the gel through a circular movement. The tool follows the mission of the work and offers an easy solution to the tedious task of gel extraction.
