The Kay Frank Spring 2014 Collection Embodies Sophistication

Liquid PVC materials are fused with transparent vinyls, neoprene wools and microfiber pieces for this elegant womenswear line by Kay Frank. The Pratt Institute graduate's Spring 2014 collection is entitled "Human too Human" and explores human and artificial themes that relate to a woman's body.

Inspired by a reconstructive surgery that she experienced in first person, Kay Frank's graduate presentation relies on the use of innovative materials. Human vs. Proshtetic themes are prevalent in this striking lookbook that plays with proportion, shape and varying visual transparencies.

Using complex technologies, the designer first developed her silhouettes by combining the images of MRI scans with sketches that were traced using robotic arm elements. The result is a minimalist collection that evokes futuristic undertones.
