Kappa Bar, a Sweden-based esports gaming bar/restaurant has opened a new location in Jönköping, further cementing the bar as one of the first eSports space chains. First launched in 2016, Kappa Bar already holds locations in Gothenburg and Stockholm but is currently offering franchising options in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. The newest location in Jönköping is a 180 square meter space and can easily accommodate 60 guests.
This new location in Jönköping indicates a unique expansion for the chain, as the city has long been a hub for gaming in Sweden. According to co-founder Klas Bergqvist, the bar has plans to expand to more major cities in Sweden and the rest of the world. The model of Kappa Bar follows the structure of traditional bars but replaces traditional sports showings with eSports event broadcasting and gaming. Kappa Bar may not be the first eSports bar, as more and more are popping up around the world, but the bar is perhaps the fastest growing and is arguably the first game bar chain to achieve success.
