Even the most imaginative of designers too often find their thoughts caught inside the box. They manage to find new and creative ways to rework existing objects, but seldom dream up entirely new items.
The Kalla Napkin Holder is one of such rare conceptions, fulfilling a task that has likely never before been performed. While its closest cousin may be the napkin ring, this elegant invention flaunts different features.
Made from Corian, the tabletop accessory was inspired by the delicate, yet dramatic, single petal of the white calla lily. By mimicking its graceful form with a sheet the size and shape of a serviette, Vuk Dragovic came up with a fluent triangular cover for cutlery and cloth. Stiff and easy to clean, the Kalla Napkin Holder can even function as an abstract salver for pre-meal garnishes.
