Entangled Taxidermy Sculptures

Julien Salaud Creates Webs of Dead Animals

Animal taxidermy is not attractive for some people because, inevitably, it is related to dead animals; however, French artist Julien Salaud gives this activity an extra twist by covering her pieces with different materials. This intriguing series is titled 'Animaux Stellaires' (Stellar Animals), and is composed of different animals wrapped in materials like nails, string and beads.

The concept is beautiful and disturbing because the way Salaud decorates these creatures makes them look mesmerizing, yet, these are lifeless species. She creates geometric forms and intricate patterns that add to these sculptures a new aesthetic dimension. All sizes and kinds of wildlife are suspended in time to become art.

Julien Salaud gives life and new meanings to mortality by stopping the passing of time through taxidermy, and creating fascinating figures.
