Creepily Fragmented Facial Portraits

These Jonny Shaw Sketches are Hyper Realistic

These Jonny Shaw sketches depict fragmented sections of a persons face in a slightly unnerving way. The illustrations, which were all created in pencil, look alarmingly realistic. The Glasgow-based artist certainly has a keen eye for creating images which are so realistic they make us look twice. Out of context, the images of floating mouths and beards look alien and ambiguous and give viewers an eerie feel.

These pencil drawn images are a modern and contemporary take on traditional and classical portraiture. Instead of learning more about a person from their portrait, we know nothing about the elusive man detailed in these images. Jonny Shaw is known for his life-like pencil sketches. He graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2003 with a BAH in Fine Art Painting and has since gone on to win awards all over the world.
