Paintings by the Dutch artist John Boelee are composed of acrylic on canvas. His work is interesting, not only by composition, but in colour, technique and concept.
The works are about different emotions linked and separated by each other within one person, portrait, or tronie (often a portrait of a non existing person, a composition of several faces or just an imagination). John Boelee's art has developed from mostly erotic paintings with lots of women to a more intense and complex view on people.
The paintings are also about rhythm; by using distance, the blocs become just pieces of colour and abstraction is born. John Boelee works and lives in The Hague, The Netherlands and graduated from the Royal Academy there in 1996.
