Design group ixxi recently took Johannes Vermeer’s famous painting, Girl With a Pearl Earring, and recreated it completely with pixelated blocks of colors.
Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring is a famous painting of a beautiful blonde girl looking over her shoulder with a delicate dangling pearl earring. While the painting has been one of the world's most renowned works of art, ixxi did an amazing job at zooming in on the beautiful blue, peach and yellow colors of the painting and rebuilding the image using solely blocks of colors. Each color block focuses on the most prominent shade in that particular spot of the painting and together all the blocks form a newly adapted modern version of the Girl with a Pearl Earring.
