A Toyota-designed javelin carrying cart will be used in the 2020 Olympic games, which will take place in Tokyo. The machine is titled the Field Event Support Robot, or FSR.
The cart features an autonomous design and it will carry track and field objects like javelins, shot puts and other items. The javelin carrying cart will reduce the number of staff members necessary for the event. Toyota will be collaborating with the International Association of Athletic Federation to fine-tune the FSR. The cart will be able to find the best route option to travel while being able to avoid obstacles in its path, and also to follow staff if necessary.
The robots being implemented in the Olympic games will serve as an important marking for Toyota.
