Japan Airlines is testing out a new service that allows passengers to order pre-owned clothing and cut down on baggage when driving. The 'Any Wear, Anywhere' service delivers the clothing to the traveler's residence in Japan, eliminating fuel and CO2 emissions that would be used to transport the additional baggage. Passengers can rent up to nine items of clothing, including tops, bottoms, and outerwear. Japan Airlines curates each order based on season, occasion, and client size.
In order to assess the environmental implications of the innovative service, Japan Airlines has declared it will be monitoring the decrease in carbon dioxide emissions for consumers using the service.
The service will be available for a trial period between July 20232 and August 2024.
