The UK City Council Cuts Costs with New Energy Saving Mechanism

Taking modern technology to the next level, the Westminster City Council in the UK has decided to switch 14,000 streetlights so that soon it will be able to be controlled and altered easily by the tap of an iPad.

Being implemented throughout the next four years, the project comes with a hefty $5.2 million price tag. However, in the long term, the streetlights will significantly cut energy costs for the city by saving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. It will also provide a more smart and efficient way for the streetlights to be monitored and altered accordingly.

Using an iPad application, the device will be capable of altering such things as the brightness of the lights as well as being able to alert those necessary when there is a light in need of repair. No longer will there be any more worries about walking home in the dark late at night.
