Ray was an illuminated interactive sculpture that turned live data feeds into brightly colored visual conversations using solar power. The social media-responsive art installation was intended to raise awareness for the work Pollinate Energy is doing in India.
There, they continue to break the cycle of urban poverty via sustainable and renewable energy. By bringing solar power to Indian slums, the non-profit organization hope to improve the slum-dwellers' quality of life.
The interactive sculpture was created in collaboration with amigo & amigo, S1T2 and Wildwon. The installation consisted of multi-colored light strips, made up of 9000 lights in total. In addition to feeding off social media conversations, the towering 7 meter tall structure could also be affected by pulling on ropes attached to charging pods.
