This installation is crafted from scrap materials becoming insect sculptures by the French artist Edouard Martinet. The materials used are found in everyday mechanical items such as a bicycle, car or computer. These items are taken apart delicately and assembled with extreme detail. He has made beetles, ants, spiders, flies and other creepy creatures that can be found in different parts of the world.
Each part of the insect is screwed on with precision to capture the realistic features of the insect. Martinet usually takes a month to construct his insect sculptures working with more than one piece at a time. This would be the perfect inspiration for artists who appreciate fine sculptures. His display of sculptures can be viewed at the Sladmore Contemporary exhibition in London, November 27th through January 31st, 2014.
