Industrial-Style Apartment Buildings

Emulsion Uses Metal and Steel for the Albany Road Project

London-based architecture firm Emulsion embarks on its "first self-initiated development" and it is an industrial-style apartment building. The site was previously the location of a 1950s off-license. The practice designs a trio of homes that preserve the aesthetic of the previous structure. Emulsion makes this decision in favor of a more sustainable architectural development and use of resources.

The industrial-style apartment building is bold and eye-catching. While the old and the new are blended, the boundary between them is emphasized with material use. Emulsion uses metal and steel to accentuate the design. In order to create a modern and light-filled space, the architectural firm installs "large sliding pocket doors, roof lights and full-height windows."
