Instagram Has Released 'IGPlayback' for Compiling Popular Content

Instagram has released three new features this week including 'IGPlayback,' visual replies to reels, and profile embedding. IGPlayback allows users to create an algorithmically generated round-up of stories that they have posted in the past year. To use this feature, a minimum of three stories need to be posted, and the round-up can compile a maximum of 10 stories.

Users can select one story to build a playback off of, and the algorithm will suggest similar stories for the user to add to the compilation based on themes, view count, and a variety of other metrics. This is an excellent feature for individuals who use 'Instagram Stories' frequently.

Also included in this week's update to Instagram are visual replies and profile embedding. Visual replies will function in a similar fashion to TikTok's 'Video Replies' feature. This feature will allow creators who have posted a reel on Instagram to reply to a comment under that reel with another video of up to 60 seconds. Profile embedding, on the other hand, allows users to create a simplified version of their Instagram profile to embed on other websites, such as blogs or forums.
