Ball-Launching Robots

The iFling May One Day Play Fetch with Your Dog

There are plenty of applications for an invention like the iFling which is able to collect balls from the floor and throw them. It would be an asset for beginner training in batting cages and on tennis courts and act as temporary a dog sitter with the capacity to play fetch. Eventually the mechanism might even be useful in warfare with the ability to pick up grenades and throw them back at the enemy.

But the remote-controlled iFling is only in its third design iteration and still without great accuracy of aim. It does however boast a brilliant technique for retrieving small spheres between each wheel and its body, bringing them into the center, up the arm and launching them through the air. The airborne projection is made possible by the iFling bot's segway-like stabilization. It can catapult and Jai Alai throw balls with the help of the momentum of its halting wheels.
