Battery-Less Beacons

Ifinity's 'AirBeacons' Are Powered By Electromagnetic Waves

Polish startup Ifinity has developed a beacon -- the AirBeacon -- that doesn't need to have its batteries replaced frequently, mostly because it doesn't run on batteries at all. The device is equipped with battery-less beacon technology that uses ambient electromagnetic waves to harness energy. The beacon works by extracting power from a single source of low-current ambient electromagnetic waves.

In addition to not needing battery replacement, Ifinity's AirBeacons have the additional advantage of being smaller than other beacon solutions, making it possible to install them in places that are difficult to access.

There's no question that beacons are the technology of the future, and Ifinity's AirBeacon innovation won't be the last innovation emerging from the expanding beacon space.
