This trailer gives a sneak peek at a new iBike documentary scheduled for release on December 25, 2012. Set in Montreal, the video shows groups of bicyclists raging through city streets. First assembling in a parking garage, they ride down a country road before meeting up with a larger group of cyclists and eventually making their way into a graffiti-covered space. The rain starts just as night falls -- then, the flares come out. The final, arguably most explosive scene shows a single rider with a red flare attached to the bottom of his front wheel.
"If everybody in the world used a bike to get to work, what would that change?" asks an anonymous voice before the credits roll. "It would change a lot." It sure would. Despite the utopian sensibilities evident in the final question, this trailer remains powerful for its visual appeal. Making cycling look edgy, popular and adventurous is achieved by combining slow motion with quick edits and grainy settings.
The film is in collaboration with sponsors Starley Rover Society Bike and Highlights & Shadows Studio.
