The Hyundai MobED has been unveiled by the Hyundai Motor Group as a mobility platform solution that could work to greatly enhance capabilities for a wide range of implementations.
The electric Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED) is equipped with four wheels that are independently steered and will even maintain the level of the base when going over inclines. The unit is intended to be used in a wide array of different environments and could even be scaled up to accommodate a human rider or perhaps a baby stroller for connected riding capabilities.
Head of Hyundai's Robotics Lab Dong Jin Hyun spoke on the Hyundai MobED saying, "We have developed the MobED platform to overcome the limitations of existing indoor guide and service robots while maximizing its usability in cities by dramatically improving the platform's overall mobility. We are also looking ahead to assess how potential users of MobED will further expand their needs and use for this type of technology."
