Think of a stereotypical American truck driver and an image of a big red-faced man in a trucker hat will come to mind; think of an Indian truck driver and some may draw a blank, which the Horn Please photo series will gladly fill in. Treating their trucks like a home away from home, they have been vibrantly and ornately decorated while the men themselves seem more put together and comely.
Shot by New York photographer Dan Eckstein, the Horn Please series shows how personal the inside of each truck is. Spending two and a half weeks on the Grand Trunk Road alongside his driver, guide and translator Sukkhi, Eckstein managed to capture a culture often unseen in the Horn Please series.
