The Chinese Railway Stock Corporation is creating a high-speed maglev train. The train is designed to get to speeds of 373 mph and have a capacity of 600 people. This train will be capable of transporting passengers between Beijing and Shanghai in approximately three and a half hours. This would be a faster travel time than airplanes going between the cities.
Maglev trains operate with a magnetic force that keeps them elevated, one that reduces friction and allows the train to reach very high speeds. This model would be one of the fastest maglev trains in the world. The prototype was first announced in 2015 and the production of the high-speed maglev train is set for 2021.
