Western Digital is launching an innovative new high-capacity hard drive that is unique in the fact that it contains helium within its internal structure, a unique engineering intervention that makes it possible for the components to enjoy reduced friction.
Dubbed the Ultrastar Hs14 HDD, this particular high-capacity hard drive offers as much as 14 terabytes of storage space, and is capable of transferring data at a hugely impressive rate of 233 megabytes per second. What's more, this hard drive is claimed to be able to consume as much as 60 per cent less power per terabyte when in an idling phase.
With its rip-roaring performance and capacious storage space, it's clear that the Ultrastar Hs14 HDD will appeal to data and cloud centers and other industrial computer facilities.
