As many consumers continue to work remotely and connect with the colleagues using video calls in the wake of the spread of COVID-19, GoPro included a firmware update for its HERO8 Black action camera, which allows for it to be used as a webcam.
After users do the manual firmware update on their HERO8 Black, they'll have to install some software that will allow them to control the camera from their computer. To connect the camera,. they'll need a USB-C cable. Once they have everything updated and installed, users will be able to use their GoPro as a webcam on a variety of video chat apps, including Zoom, Discord, and YouTube Live.
As Gizmodo explains, the camera can be set to fisheye mode to capture a wider angle, or used in "a standard flat webcam mode."
