Very soon, human space travel will be possible for the average Joe if Danish firm Copenhagen Suborbitals successfully launches the HEAT rocket on August 30, 2010.
The firm has been working on the model since 2004 and successfully tested the rocket's booster in February and May 2010. HEAT, which stands for Hybrid Exo Atmospheric Transporter, was made for peaceful purposes, and fully complies with the EU's Export control laws.
Implications - Ordinary people have been dreaming of being launched into space ever since the first man walked on the moon, and now that it is possible, I can only imagine how many family vacations will switch from a trip to the beach to the actual sun.
